FOREST PARK ORIENTEERING CENTER

ARCH 380 / MARGARETTE LEITE / FALL 2011
Ecological factors play into the lives of all of us. In the Forest Gathering Center, I chose to base the design upon a fallen tree, (aka nurse log). Oriented along the axis of an actual fallen tree. This architecture bridges 2 intersecting trails (Wildwood and Holmns) located in Forest Park., Portland, OR. The open canopy structure will encourage the growth of moss and licorice fern on discarded lumber. These lumber pieces would feed the forest or be reincorporated into an urban context.
